DC Charging

Charging in which external equipment supplies direct current to the vehicle’s battery system.

Reviewed 05.10.2026 · Version 2 · Scope: General

How to interpret it

The external equipment performs the necessary conversion. Power, voltage, connector, and vehicle conditions all affect compatibility and operation; they should be checked together.

Example

A hypothetical charging point with a high rated power does not support the claim that a compatible vehicle will maintain that power throughout the session.

Why it matters to you

Helps interpret charging specifications correctly and distinguish the charging point’s capacity from the vehicle’s response.

Common points of confusion

A maximum DC power is not the same as average power and does not by itself determine charging time.
