WLTP

A harmonized test procedure for obtaining consumption, emissions, and, depending on the vehicle, range data under defined conditions.

Reviewed 05.10.2026 · Version 2 · Scope: General

How to interpret it

It provides figures using a common method. The result applies to the vehicle tested and the procedure; it does not represent every driving condition a person may encounter.

Example

To compare two hypothetical range figures, check that both use the same cycle; a WLTP figure and one from another method are not directly equivalent.

Why it matters to you

It helps identify how a published figure was obtained and retain its homologation context.

Common points of confusion

WLTP does not mean guaranteed range or identical consumption for every driver. Nor does it, by itself, identify the variant tested.
