An indicator of the charge available in a battery relative to the capacity reference used by its management system.
Reviewed 05.10.2026 · Version 2 · Scope: General
It is usually expressed as a percentage and is an estimate produced by the system. Its interpretation depends on the reference used; by itself, it does not describe aging, range, or charging power.
A hypothetical 50% indicator places the charge relative to its scale; it does not prove that exactly half the kilometers remain under all conditions of use.
It helps interpret charging intervals and distinguish the battery’s current condition from its state of health.
SoC is not SoH. The former describes available charge; the latter refers to health or aging according to the assessment method.
