Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS)

A group of advanced systems that assist the driver through warnings or interventions in vehicle functions.

Reviewed 05.10.2026 · Version 2 · Scope: General

How to interpret it

Each assistance feature has a specific operating scope involving speed, surroundings, sensors, and conditions. Check what a version includes and what limitations its documentation describes.

Example

A hypothetical list that includes a lane warning and automatic braking brings together different assistance features; it does not show that the vehicle drives autonomously.

Why it matters to you

It helps compare equipment by its specific names and functions rather than assuming that all packages offer the same features.

Common points of confusion

ADAS is not a single function and does not automatically mean autonomous driving. The presence of sensors does not prove that every assistance feature is enabled.
