ISOFIX

An anchorage system for connecting a compatible child restraint system to specific points in a vehicle.

Reviewed 05.10.2026 · Version 2 · Scope: General

How to interpret it

Compatibility depends on the vehicle seating position and the child seat. The documentation for both products specifies conditions and any additional components; the presence of anchorages does not replace checking this information.

Example

In a purchasing example, finding anchorages at a seating position lets you check compatibility, but does not automatically validate every available child seat.

Why it matters to you

It helps identify what to check before choosing a child seat or a seating position for installation.

Common points of confusion

ISOFIX alone does not describe a child seat’s size, orientation, or approval. It should not be confused with the mere presence of a seat belt.
