Euro Level and DGT Badge: Which Documents to Consult
We explain what the conformity certificate proves, when the DGT requires a manufacturer’s certificate for Euro level annotation, and why the environmental badge differs from the Euro level.

Key points
The EU conformity certificate confirms a vehicle’s technical data and must be provided free of charge to the buyer. To record an already‑registered car’s Euro level, consult the DGT directive; if your case falls outside its special provisions, supply a manufacturer’s certificate. The environmental badge is a separate classification.
EU Conformity Certificate and Documents for Euro Level Annotation
The EU conformity certificate details the vehicle’s main characteristics and technical performance, includes the manufacturing date, and must be provided free of charge to the buyer. Since July 5 2026 it can also be supplied electronically under the legal conditions set out.
If you wish to request the annotation of a Euro level for an already‑registered vehicle, the first step is to review the special cases outlined in the DGT’s directive. If your situation is not among them, a manufacturer’s certificate specifying the corresponding Euro emission level must be provided. This guide does not detail those special cases: compare your specific situation with the official DGT document.
The Euro level is not equivalent to the environmental badge. The DGT badge is a classification aimed at positively distinguishing more environmentally friendly vehicles and supporting municipal policies. Its assignment combines vehicle type or energy source and the applicable Euro level; therefore, the Euro level alone does not determine a particular badge.

Which Documents to Consult in Each Case
To verify the main characteristics, technical performance and manufacturing date of a vehicle, consult the conformity certificate.
When requesting the annotation of a Euro level for an already‑registered vehicle, first review the DGT directive. If your situation is not listed among its special cases, the request requires a manufacturer’s certificate indicating the relevant Euro emission level. If you simply want to identify the environmental badge, consult the official DGT classification: it does not replace the documentation needed to prove technical data or process the Euro level annotation.
